Überfall auf Berliner Poker-Turnier (EPT Berlin Robbed by 6 armed men)
06/03/2010Mehrere bewaffnete Männer haben am Samstag ein Pokerturnier im Berliner Luxushotel “Grand Hyatt” am Potsdamer Platz überfallen. Die Maskierten hätten die Angestellten bedroht und die Herausgabe von Bargeld erzwungen, sagte ein Polizeisprecher auf ddp-Anfrage. Anschließend seien sie geflüchtet. Nach Angaben des Sprechers wurden mehrere Gäste des Turniers leicht verletzt, weil unter ihnen kurzzeitig Panik ausbrach. Zur Höhe der Beute machte die Polizei keine Angaben. Nach einem Bericht der Berliner Tageszeitung “BZ am Sonntag” sollen die Täter 800 000 Euro erbeutet haben. Die Männer waren dem Blatt zufolge mit Maschinenpistolen, Macheten und Handgranaten bewaffnet. Bei dem nach Veranstalterangaben größten Pokerturnier Deutschlands waren 945 Spieler aus 48 Ländern an den Start gegangen, unter ihnen Ex-Tennis-Star Boris Becker. Er soll aber bereits ausgeschieden sein und auch nicht in dem Hotel gewohnt haben. Auf den Sieger wartete zum geplanten Turnierende am Sonntag ein Preisgeld von insgesamt einer Million Euro. Das fünftägige Event im Grand Hyatt Berlin wurde von der European Poker Tour (EPT) in Kooperation mit der Spielbank Berlin und Pokerfloor und ausgerichtet. EPT Berlin Robbed by 6 armed men. European Poker Tour Berlin has just been robbed by six gunmen with machine guns. It is alleged that they have made off with less than a million Euros from the poker tournament. One of the guards was injured trying to capture one of the robbers. It seems everyone is okay except for the guard who was injured in the head. Panic and chaos ensued throughout the tournament as seen in the video below.
